Propaganda, Yup

Just because the Second World War has been declared, French and British authorities arrest German nationals. Being peaceful people, many of them escape and make their ways back to Germany to join the army. Meanwhile, British and French propagandists announce victory after victory, while on the screen about five second elapse before the lie is proven.

You've heard of Nazi propaganda films, and this is about the purest one I have seen. The English are braggarts and liars; the French are ineffective and more interested in chorus lines than lines of supply; Germans are honest, gallant, and indomitable; the British invade everyplace, and the Germans respond kindly with overwhelming military force; Polish soldiers attack a grounded Luftwaffe plane for no reason except possibly spite. Germans are invariably victorious.

There's little doubt that the British were masters of propaganda in this period. This is raw and simple. It was also, without a doubt, very effective with its German audience. When there is no competing message, what reason is there to doubt?
