Great performances and visually brilliant at times

Sherlock reappears and Watson struggles to deal with everything that has happened.

This is an enjoyable episode with great humour and character moments.

The plot focuses a lot on Watson's reaction to Sherlock's return, some details of his faked suicide, whilst at the same time it deals with a terrorist threat. Personally, I prefer the character moments to the actual investigation.

The episode derives a lot of humour from Sherlock's return and Watson's anguish. There are many scenes showing Watson struggling to cope with what's happening that are juxtaposed with scenes of Sherlock back in action. These are very well made and entertaining. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are on great form in an almost comic duo like performance, with Freeman the straight man to Cumberbatch's eccentric shenanigans.

I also liked how the script messes with the audience desire to find out if Mark Gatiss can satisfactorily explain how Sherlock faked his death.

The visuals are excellent with great cinematography and editing. Some of the scene transitions are fantastic.
