I'm so glad this story has been told
2 October 2021
Peter Tatchell has led a remarkable life. There are not many lifelong activists who remain so dedicated, risking themselves on the frontlines for almost half a century as Peter has. The interviews with Peter's contemporaries are illuminating - many vehemently opposed his confrontational methods, found him irritating, pigheaded, and arrogant. Decades later, they respect his work, and admit that his polarising civil resistance strategy, while turning the UK against him at the time, has been effective in the struggle for queer liberation. It's a key lesson in social change - there's an important role for the rebel, challenging injustice and speaking truth to power. Often a society needs to be made to feel uncomfortable, confronted with its own unpalatable injustice, to spark change.
