Good, With Some Flaws

Warning: Spoilers
Anthologies have many problems to tackle, one being what to do in such a short time.

Where this episode is good, it is near flawless. But where it lacks, it suffers from a blandness that is hard to ignore for the critical eye.

PROS:

The animation is smooth, and the lighting and artistic choices (especially the lack of color aside from unnatural light sources) are brilliant.

The main fight scene is fantastic, near jaw-dropping at some points.

The main character isn't a typical hero, and steers more toward moral greyness which is more anticipated and appreciated in modern story telling.

The scene right at the end where the "Wanderer" opens the side of his coat to reveal several red kyber crystals is a picturesque example of showing and not telling the audience that he is a Sith-hunter, not a Jedi (Which is stated earlier in the episode).

CONS:

While the animation and drawings are great, they sometimes become too dark and lead to some scenes being bland.

There is very little story, and the little that is available is shallow for the most part, leaving little to interpretation or exploration (The "iceberg" it leaves behind is minuscule).

This goes for world building too.

The villain (And this applies for all the villains in this series) is a typical evil type with no rhyme or reason to their course other than "The Dark Side," which in all fairness, is enough of a reason for most Star Wars fans.

Little is revealed about any of the characters, leaving nothing memorable about any of them aside from the main character who is hinted at being a Sith-hunter.

The dialogue is average, and even the line that was supposed to hold the most impact, the main character saying "I'm not a Jedi," is simply banal (A similar line was said by Captain Rex in The Clone Wars TV Series, and Ahsoka in Star Wars Rebels).

****

Personally, I absolutely LOVED this episode. Hardly any scenes left me bored, and there were a few scenes that even made the hairs on my neck stand.

If we had a whole season devoted only to this character and plot line in a Samurai Jack kind of story line, to explore both in greater detail with a brush up on the dialogue, I can see it being a huge success.

Personally, I give it a 8/10.

From a more objective standpoint, 6/10.
