Crossbreed (2019)
8/10
Fun Grade B sci-fi/action/horror romp
7 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
In the future, a ragtag team of rough'n'tumble mighty macho military veterans are hired by the U. S. president Ellen Henriksen (nicely played by Vivica A. Fox) to retrieve an alien bioweapon (Devanny Pinn sporting funky make-up) from a top secret research station that's orbiting the earth in outer space.

Director/co-writer Brandon Slagle keeps the enjoyable story moving along at a quick pace, presents a neat array of colorful characters, maintains a generally seriously tone throughout, tosses in several nice nods to various classic 80's and 90's sci-fi/action/horror films, stages the exciting action with rip-roaring aplomb, and even tosses in some tasty gratuitous female nudity for trashy good measure. The solid acting from the capable cast keeps this movie humming: Daniel Baldwin as the straight-shooting Secretary of Defense Weathers, Stink Fisher as two-fisted team leader Adam "Boss" Ryker, Antoine Lanier as the laid-back Ray "Slaughterhouse" Stephenson, John T. Woods as jolly gambler Alfonso "Four-Eyes" Shift, Jason McNeil as spiky punk R'Reon "Degenerate" Jones, Mu-Shaka Benson as the untrustworthy Miller, and Brandyn T. Williams as the eager Noob. The CGI effects are pretty good considering the modest budget. A total blast.
