Boomika (2021)
1/10
A true disappointment

Warning: Spoilers
Yet another bad Indian horror movie to add to the list. Just because this is the first Indian eco thriller to have been made doesn't mean this was a good idea in any way. Whoever made this script needs to take additional courses for how to write. Again, I won't waste time telling people how awful this movie was (which it was like man, apparently the Earth has a brain and is communicating with them/'getting revenge' via phones and ordering meteors and extinctions cos why not like soooo creative, someone give this scriptwriter an award already geez) but I'm sorry because I lied and I just have to say it: this was utterly awful.

Literally makes no sense whatsoever with the whole restoring ecological balance thing (only in the one place? How does that work if she's supposedly representing/is the 'Earth'? Shouldn't she be going around killing every construction worker around? And if it were only construction workers like she said then how come everyone in that town disappeared? Again makes no sense. I'll have to ask the Earth-which so obviously gave me life and I just plopped here out of nowhere-for the answers according to this movie so guess I just gotta wait for my phone to text me or go to an abandoned house so it can take revenge on me for LIVING). There is no substance to the movie that it makes it or the message memorable nor are the characters relatable or likeable because all the movie relies on is the end 'twist' which isn't a twist at all. From that point on, this movie is a disappointment. If it wasn't an 'eco thriller' and had a different storyline (done well of course) perhaps it would have been better but I have no hope for Indian horror movies at this point.
