Taking this cartoon series as a credible source . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . about 22% of the U. S. population consists of mad scientists. There's the frustrated surgeon tormenting Bugs Bunny during WATER, WATER EVERY HARE, the vain lady chemist in BROOM-STICK BUNNY and of course the would-be wishbone thief here in BIRTH OF A NOTION. Perhaps part of the reason for this rampant scourge of evil doctors running amok through Cartoon Land was the notoriety of such Real Life physicists as Al Einstein, continually pulling time warps, quarks and nuclear weapons from the nooks and crannies of their craniums. These animated shorts are only reflecting the typical reaction of average Americans toward Science: Be afraid--be VERY afraid!
