Osamake: Romcom Where the Childhood Friend Won't Lose
7 July 2021
This anime series is centred on Sueharu Maru, a high school student who was a child actor until a tragedy struck his life. His neighbour is childhood friend Kuroha; she has romantic feelings for him but he is interested in the beautiful Shirokusa, a girl at his school who is an idol and an author... unfortunately for him he learns that she has a boyfriend. Kuroha offers to help Sueharu get revenge on Shiokusa and her boyfriend.

This isn't a terrible series; it isn't a stand out either; it is just something one watches then forgets... so much so that by the time I came to write this I'd forgotten much of the initial set-up - not a great sign. Perhaps it will be better for new viewers as they won't have to wait a week between episodes. On the plus side I do recall laughing a sufficient number of times in most episodes and there is nothing offensive going on. The character designs and animation are solid enough. Overall I wouldn't call this a must see but it passes the time well enough if you like the genre.
