Review of Freaky

Freaky (2020)
8/10
Great comedy horror
6 July 2021
Freaky is a great comedy horror that's really funny and doesn't waste it's solid premise even if it's ending feels tacked on, putting Freaky Friday through a slasher lens to great effect. It's definitely best of Christopher Landon's 3 genre bending slashers.

Vince Vaughn gives an incredible performance and Kathryn Newton is great, both able to create characters that are still recognisable when swapped but obviously Vince is the most fun to watch. Celeste O'Connor, Misha Osherovich and Uriah Shelton are all really good with a fun chemistry with Vince Vaughn.

Christopher Landon's direction is fantastic, what it lacks in genuine scares it more than makes up for in really inventive and gleefully violent kills. The music by Bear McCreary and the soundtrack are both excellent, reminding you the film is always in complete control of it's tone.
