Always love one off episodes
24 May 2021
I need to add my name to those who like this episode. I generally love one-off episodes in most shows and this is a really good one. I don't know if the trivia for this show is true, that PMT was injured filming part of what I guess would have been a different story and had to sit out for 2 weeks. If so, maybe this new show was written really fast. It's also pretty common, at least now, for leads to get a week off when they otherwise work like 60-80 hours a week on an action show. Whatever is true, I love the result.

It was fun getting a little character development for Switek and Zito. John Diehl is so good and charismatic - it's easy to see how he's still staring in things today. Like his scene with his new fish. Not sure what happened with Michael Talbott's career. Loved finding out Switek is obsessed with Elvis and seeing Ellen Greene from Little Shop of Horrors as his girlfriend. Noogie and Izzy made a great comic team themselves, although sometimes Noogie can be a bit much. Loved his punk rock, stripper fiancé and her dance down the isle. It was even great seeing Mark Lynn Baker playing someone besides Cousin Larry. I wish everyone in the show got credited because even Costelado's assistant, who had one line, went on to be a character actor for years & I wish I could remember his name. The casting director did a great job with every extra, like the henchman with the crazy facial hair and the tattooed marriage officiant. I only wasn't sure about Costelado at first but he cracked me up when he went crazy over the cement truck.

I wouldn't want to watch this craziness in every episode, but this was really fun. I wish character development was more of a thing in the 80s. There are some other episodes in season one that really need it (like Rites of Passage, ugh) and it makes the show as a whole more interesting.
