We watch as a virtuous schoolgirl is intimidated, then terrorized and betrayed, by the adults she trusted and by a girl she'd regarded as a friend. She is drugged, stripped to her underwear, and tied up to await some sort of final assault or ravishment by a malevolent being who's either a satanic demon or a hideously deformed old man (whom, out of kindness, she'd been attempting to help).
And that's how it ends.
It's not funny (though apparently some fans of the show found it chucklesome); it has no point to make except that evil (especially supernatural evil) often triumphs over ordinary well-intentioned mortals. It's thoroughly mean-spirited and ultimately rather pervy, and I wonder about people who find such exercises in sadism enjoyable.
