An Awkwardly Realistic Take on Sex Offenders
30 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I feel like you either get this movie or you don't because it has layers. On one hand it's just stupid trashy humor in a mockumentary style, but on the other, there's something exceedingly truthful about the film. For me the best thing about it is how society is exposed for treating registered sex offenders deplorably while still presenting the title character as genuinely sleazy and relatively unsympathetic.

Spoiler: I disagree with the take on the lead character as described in another review. He did absolutely not just send a card to his girlfriend to the wrong address. The film is filled with scenes showing him as being addicted to pornography, trying to pick up other women right in front of his girlfriend, and later harassing a high school girl at a car wash. He also mentions in the final scene part of the reason he ended up with his partner was because she was very young when he met her. The title character really is a sex offender, just fyi. He's just not an overt rapist or pedophile - and the running commentary shows how registered sex offenders of all kinds are treated by society as though they're all kidnapping little kids or something.
