Bombay Begums (2021– )

Somethings do not work, such as a small town girl from Indore would be able to use phrases such as Go save the world instead of a bye, but more or less uneven performance wise. A slight lisp prevents her from delivering alleged hard hitting dialogues.

Rani justifies her character and so does Lily, although it is astonishing how less we see her son in later episodes whereas it was established that his better life is the main goal.

Zuravar's character is just a pedantic teen angst sufferer without any reason why. His sister has a reason for the initial distance from her mother but she has a good reason for it. Hence his character didn't make much sense except to include Lily into the mix of things.

Somethings seemed forced, like the propaganda of women empowerment which the makers have to understand that showing women cheating/smoking/cussing is not the 'only' way you can achieve that. Especially the last episode felt quite forced with the MeToo backdrop et cetera and didn't align with the overall plot at all.

Overall a show which is definitely worth watching once. Liked the cinematography. Not a fan of the pacing, could be a bit slicker.
