Touching but lacking

Shoot Me in the Heart is a great movie with a touching story. The acting here is great, especially Yoo Jingoo's. I liked Seungmin's character a lot - humorous and resolute. I like how they sneaked in the author of the original novel - Jeong Yujeong in the ending. Though, I kind of wish she had some dialogue.

However, this movie could use some improvements. I would have given it at least a 7/10 if the chemistry between Seungmin and Soomyung was much stronger. There were scenes whereby Soomyung seemed unbothered about Seungmin, like when Seungmin was blind and tripped over a couple of times - Soomyung didn't get up and try to help his pal. Another part where Seungmin was running in the corridors, got caught, then beaten and Soomyung simply watched expressionless - no reaction. If his reactions to his friend being in pain was emphasised, this movie would have moved the audience even more. In the end, when Seungmin hugged Soomyung I was quite relieved: I really wanted a hugging scene throughout the whole movie to strengthen that bond between them. Furthermore, the ending was pretty sad; I wish it didn't have to end like that. It's still a good movie but some parts were pretty disappointing.
