Eeswaran (2021)

Eeswaran could have been a proper comeback for Simbu with a better engagement factor and strong content

There are so many talks going around this film mainly because of Simbu's body transformation. He had worked really hard for his fans and this film serves as a comeback for him. How was Eeswaran? First of all, I have a big doubt whether it's Susienthiran or Pandiraj who made this film because it looks really like a Pandiraj film. The village backdrop and the family bonding issues presented in this film look similar to Pandiraj's Kadaikkutty Singam and Namma Veettu Pillai but unfortunately, Eeswaran lacks engagement and doesn't create any magic on screen. The film feels flat and empty as a family entertainer. There's a cliche love track, a not-so-necessary flashback recap for the hero, a usual villain who wants to take revenge and of course, we have our village superhero who has to protect the family from the bad guy. This seems to be the plot derived from many Tamil masala films. Simbu and Bharathiraja are the only saving grace of the film with their heart warming performances. Susienthiran seems to have failed to make an engaging family entertainer. The background score and the songs composed by Thaman seem to be refreshing and pleasant to listen to. Overall, Eeswaran could have been a proper comeback for Simbu with a better engagement factor and strong content.
