Review of Maara

Maara (2021)
9/10
Great adaptation of a soulful original
8 January 2021
Technically adept and great performances by every character in the film. The spirit of the movie carries it through despite the slow pace at certain points. Technically very sound from the colors to the background music to the choice of locations. Timely film given our circumstances. A touch of Mani Ratnam in places but Great debut for Dhilip Kumar nevertheless. Maybe a start to more adaptations and a prompt for film makers to take a detour from traditional remakes. Ghibran is a silent winner with some remarkable numbers that stay with you lingering for a while. A soulful film which reminds you the power great story telling and astounding visuals. Great watch!! And stay patient with the narration for you will be rewarded towards the end of the film and after.
