A rare gem amongst the clutter
15 December 2020
The Last Color - This film by first time director Vikas Khanna totally stumped me. I did not have very high expectations from the film but was proved totally wrong. The film touches many aspects of our Society which most of us are not comfortable in discussing. But the Director has put it out there in a subtle way with a positive note. The film talks about the taboo around widows, street children and marginalised communities. The story weaves around these people and how their friendship grows over a period of time. The film is about keeping your promises. Shot in the ghats of Varanasi, you see the city through a different and beautiful lens. Neena Gupta's performance is brilliant backed by the child artist. Overall a must watch for anyone who enjoys meaningful cinema.
