Why do I always seem to have the opposite opinion??
12 December 2020
I generally don't write reviews, but I have recently been feeling compelled to do my part in helping out shows/episodes that have a bad rap for some reason or another. Based on other reviews, I feel like some people don't like it because they don't get it. I've read that the plot and commentary get in each other's way, ruining each. But this episode is not about the on screen "plot" in any way and you don't need to be able to follow it to fully enjoy the episode, which is actually just about the commentary, with the on screen stuff just being a springboard for commentary jokes. This episode occurs after the series had jumped the shark. Seth MacFarlane and many writers had already left for the most part to work on his other projects. That being the case, I welcome a more unique episode. I do not understand how someone could love the other episodes around this time but not this one. This episode is actually BETTER because it is making the same kinds of jokes but in a different, original format. Plus, it gets super meta, which is always fun. I'm not sure if this episode was just too weird for some people or what, but I for one think its above average for a season 17 episode. Just be glad they're even still making this show and be happy with what you get.
