The opening episode of season two is yet another mixed bag, starting off with a long shaggy dog scene the outcome of which is instantly obvious to anyone who knows this world and how valuable Offred and her kindred are. So that's 20 minutes wasted. Then we're back into interesting world-falling-apart flashbacks interspersed with modern day stuff, but the pace is a lot better here, with more going on, although those annoying "nothing happening" face shots are still present. The kitchen sequence is extraordinarily disturbing and the horror film music works a treat.
