. . . 1950's feature film GIANT, with Daffy Duck cast in the James Dean role and Porky Pig channeling Rock Hudson. Porky is really mean to Daffy in DAFFY'S INN TROUBLE, recalling what a stinker Mr. Hudson was to Jimmy in GIANT. Both of these big screen offerings include an unexpected oil gusher scene, which is the turning point of each story. Master Dean does not make out so well in GIANT; neither does Daffy in HIS title role. It's also clear that the characters played by Rock and Porky are both scheming Fat Cat One Per Centers, out to cheat, bamboozle and ruin the Little Guy. When Rock gets beaten to a pulp in that Racist diner at the end of GIANT, it presages the missing original climax of this brief cartoon, in which Porky's 10-story second saloon gets swallowed by a sinkhole AFTER Daffy quits him.
