There are a lot of comparisons to the animated Disney classic. Ignore those. This is not Beauty and the Beast or The Lion King. This movie is its own retelling of the same source material. It has more in common with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon than it does with the 1998 Disney Mulan. If you are a fan of kung fu movies AND Disney movies, then there is a lot to like here. Don't get hung up on how it is different.
The $30 price tag is a little high. However, if you watch it with friends and family it is still cheaper than 4 or 5 movie tickets.
