Patty receives a letter from a past civic assignment where the class had to write to a government official. She wrote to Kosslinko, the head Russian presidium. The letter in reply from the Kremlin prompts a visit from Harold Raney (Mike Road) of the state department. He reasons that from the letter they can learn valuable intel, including the political climate. Mr. Raney seizes the letter and informs Patty that her reply can be equally important. Patty quickly grows suspicious that Mr. Raney was instead a spy. He returns to relay that the letter suggests a wish for friendship between the countries. The state department crafts a letter for her to sign as a response, but she feels it lacks her touch. She writes her letter, mentioning troubles with Richard and teen lingo. Some of her classmates begins making fun of her in disbelief that she ever received the letter. Patty resorts to calling Russia directly. She records the conversation to have the Russian language decoded, with a comical revelation.
