Kangana!!!

Women in India have generally been expected to devote themselves completely to the role of a child-bearer and a child-carer after marriage. Many would be happy and comfortable to fully devote themselves to it, while many would also like to pursue their previous passions. In case the latter is true, does the woman have any real freedom and genuine support from family to do what she wants with her life after marriage? It is in this social context that the movie is set.

The message conveyed by the movie is powerful, and the lead actress Kangana Ranaut takes it a notch higher with her intense portrayal of the character. Although the script peters out towards the end, it would, at the same time, be too much to expect a nail-biting climax as this isn't the typical Armageddon saving-the-world-from-annihilation type of movie where the protagonist pulls off an impossible stunt just in the nick of time. But Kangana pulls no punches in her performance, and the male lead, Jassi Gill, complements her well in many places.
