Review of Greed

Greed (I) (2019)
7/10
Those expecting satire or comedy are in for a surprise
15 June 2020
GREED is far more essential cinema than the audience gives it credit for. Part of the discontent is the marketing: those expecting plenty of laughs will be disappointed because they will find themselves looking with embarrassment on a phenomenon which is tragic. The main character lavishes in luxury and throws a decadent party for his birthday, while his empire is build on the exploitation of the third world work force. Far more than entertainment this is education about globalization and what lurks behind the windows of the fast fashion industry.
