Brilliant!

The South Koreans know how to make their series. After watching Smokin, Mr.Sunshine, Arthdal Chronicles and amazing movies like The Host, Old Man and Parasite to name a few, it became clear to me that South Korean movie making steers clear of the typical Hollywood stereotypes and clichés. Even though the story in Regal unravels slowly, it has more depth as the season comes closer to the end. As most South Korean films and series, they always tend to have an emotional depth, that western films and series lack. Love doesn't always have to be shown as people jumping into bed 2 or 3 times each episode like in most American productions. The south koreans showed one of the most in depth emotional love stories with Mr.Sunshine, without any physical contact between the protagonist and his "chosen " one.

Rugal manages to build up an deep emotional bond between the different characters and how it evolves over time. The fighting scenes are very well coordinated, and makes the team look badass, but they still get hurt and they all have their weaknesses.

Regal is certainly no masterpiece, but its a well made and entertaining series which hopefully will see an upcoming season sequel next year.
