I like Patton Oswalt's comedy and therefore I was dissappointed to find out that there wasn't much comedy in this special. A little harsh maybe, but I found it really boring. The bits seemed underwritten, except for the last bit, which he for some reason teases at, at the beginning of the special. It was probably the best bit, but it wasn't really "teaseworthy" (sorry, not an English native speaker, so I couldn't find a better word. Or a real word). It wasn't a major turning point in the show or anything.
This special was just underwhelming to me, especially because his last one "Annihilation" was so good and funny. I hope he does better next time.
