There is a dark side to English football, one that is increasingly obscured by the bloated glitz and glamour of the Premier League. This documentary does an excellent job of bringing it to light via the toil and turmoil of Sunderland FC's recent capitulation. You get to see what life is really like for players, staff and supporters as well as a fascinating insight into the local community and their relationship with the club. The second season feels a bit rushed and certainly isn't as compelling as the first, but overall this is still a much-needed depiction of the realities of professional football.
