In my opinion the only good things are the original star wars vibe and baby Yoda.
The story is very normal and could be an old western. The main character is not real interesting and there is no interesting development. Some episodes are just all about atmosphere (S01E05) an with a very uninteresting plot.
And the most powerful about the original movies I am although missing here: the hero journey and a bunch of real charismatic characters.
A real good series is having emotional boundaries between characters and at best a classical hero journey or at least a lots of good twists.
At the moment it feels more like a tourist journey (for me as a spectator) through the star wars universe with the atmosphere of an old and slow western.
In my opinion if it wouldn't be in the star wars universe it would not get a lot of attention.
