The start of this series was pretty iffy. I suppose you could've said that about the very first season too though. I persevered & it ended up great once it moved away from the arrowverse.
This ep also started iffy but once I realised it was back to not taking itself too seriously I was delighted. That's what made the last couple of seasons really good fun.
One thing the writers didn't consider (or maybe they did, could've been a short ep) that yes, while Prince Charles was there at the Hong Kong handover, so was Brain Blessed! Not even an undead, immortal Genghis Khan would've stood a chance against him!!
