Warning: Spoilers
WALK ON FIRE is an engaging if slight crime thriller that's one of literally dozens that star Andy Lau churned out during the late '80s. Here he's given support from Ray Lui and Kent Cheng. The three play cop buddies who are thrown into a tragic situation when one of their number is killed by a ruthless thief. Lau swears revenge and the story goes from there, although it does get bogged down in the middle section in which he strikes up a relationship with female informer Cherie Chung. However, Lau has always been one of the most likeable of Hong Kong stars and he does well here, with Cheng excelling as usual as the comedy relief. The film certainly isn't action packed but it picks up for a breakneck climax featuring the inimitable Dick Wei doing what he does best.
