I have never seen such conservative reviews in my life. Yes there is a trans firefighter and a muslim. It's a formula show and the formula is bring a bunch of diverse characters with a common goal.
It's a pleasant way to spend an hour and as the show progresses characters are fleshed out and made more interesting. Is it Downton Abbey? No. Is it just a fun little action show? Yes.
