I see so many saying how much they love this show, but I just do not understand. Yes, the animation is nice and colorful, but this is just a terrible adaptation. The biggest problem in my opinion is how flip-floppy the characters are; Guy has two modes: angry or happy. He's either yelling at Sam or telling him that they "really are best friends!" Every episode consists of 85% him yelling at Sam for being an idiot and 15% of him thanking and patting Sam on the back. Sam is the same way, but with the emotions of happy or sad. Ironically, for a show called "Green Eggs and Ham", where the entire time Sam is trying to get Guy to try them, they REALLY downplay the moment he finally does. The show can't decide if it wants to be in rhyme or not, so every time they suddenly say a line from the book it feels very out of place and forced. I did find myself laughing at some of the jokes, however. The introduced characters of EB and her mother are designed nicely, but are so boring. EB's mother is another character that falls into "only-two-emotions syndrome," happy or angry. The dynamic of an overprotective guardian and whimsically rebellious child has been done to death, and is no different here. Not to mention there seems to be quite a few moments between our main two heroes that seem to directly rip-off moments of Donkey and Shrek from the first Shrek film? (Particularly the "There is no 'we,' there is no 'our'" moments,) this could be merely a coincidence, but happens quite frequently. There's also a lack of many consequences, our protagonists are constantly afraid of falling from great heights, but suffer no injuries when Guy falls all the way down a MOUNTAIN. Difficult to feel like they're in peril when they can survive landing face-first from thousands of feet. Overall, it's tired and nothing special. Can't see this one becoming a classic, but it's not offensive, just very very boring.
