The murder of a neighbor would bring out the detective in any child.

Warning: Spoilers
This easy-going mystery comedy focuses on the three children of a mystery writer (Lynn Bari) obsessed with the idea of solving their own murder mystery, and their dreams might just come true when their mother's agent (and the agent of another neighbor who also happens to be a writer) is murdered right next door. They discover actress Annabelle Shaw outside the large mansion crying in her car, having been invited to tea by the murdered lady.

Just hours before, the children had witnessed the victim's husband arguing with her over use of the car, which brings up the question of why a married couple in such a large house doesn't have two cars, and why he is forced to take the bus. It's obvious that the husband is involved with Shaw so naturally he becomes a suspect. The pesky children roam all over the neighborhood trying to gather clues which befuddles cranky police detective James Gleason but amuses his partner Randolph Scott.

With Gleason and Scott roaming the neighborhood, the children begin to play matchmaker for their mother and the handsome Scott as they separately try to solve the murder. It's a charming little comedy where are the outcome of who killed the agent really isn't as important as how long it will take for the children to succeed to get their mother and Scott together. In a sense, it's another variation of "The Parent Trap". Peggy Ann Garner is the oldest sister, bossy and controlling, while Connie Marshall and Dean Stockwell are the younger ones. Stockwell and Gleason stand out among the cast in this innocuous little comedy that won't tax the audience and provides plenty of amusement.
