"There are worse things than a musical number"-?? Excuse moi? I'm a former theatre kid, and I'm here to tell you dramatically that the musicality here is a GIFT- an artful, clever, paradigm-shifting look into depression, and the glorious apotheosis of the whole show. When the kids sat cross-legged on a cold floor reading scripts, or practiced elocution exercises, or grew to know and appreciate each other more deeply and realistically through song (!!!), memories came flooding back to me like a warm hug around my hippocampus. I felt personally SEEN. The performances warmed my bones, and now my heart is full of love and melodies and reminiscence. I'm further comforted by the knowledge that other former theatre kids feel it, too. THANK YOU!
