I watched this movie as I enjoy Japanese culture and it got a high score. I was not prepared for the onslaught that was Bareroot gen. It portrays war time life in a very plain no holds bar way. Characters just died left right and centre. The depiction of the effects of the bomb were spot on. I would recommend this for mature teens but not children. It made me genuinely sad but in a constructive way. It wasn't anti-american just anti-war.
