I have a feeling that most of the reviews here are shills. There is 45 or more minutes of padding in this thing.
If you actually want to watch Swamp Thing, start this about 12 minutes before it ends. You'll see the best of what this episode has to offer.
Bright spots are Will Patton, Kevin Durand, the two bad guys in the boat, and the little girl in the hospital. They're all fun to watch. The rest of the acting is pretty mediocre.
According to IMDB trivia: "Due to an accounting error made by North Carolina (where the show is filmed) the production didn't receive its $40 million dollar tax rebate (approximately half of ten shows budget). As a result, the show was announced cancelled one week after the first episode aired." It wasn't because it's basically a CW soap opera.
Also according to IMDB: "Due to creative differences at Warner Media regarding the show, production of season 1 was shortened from 13 to 10 episodes." That makes the amount of padding in this show even less excusable but may explain why there's so little Swamp Thing in it.
