No character development. Completely misses the emotional connection needed to sympathize with an audience.

Jafar wasn't menacing at all. I almost felt something for him when they mentioned his backstory, but they completely missed the opportunity for a 3 dimensional character.
Aladdin and Jasmine has no chemistry. She wanted to be in charge of the country more than she wanted a relationship with Aladdin. Their romance wasn't a romance.
