"I am nothing but a slave, like the natives"
21 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There's an awful lot of running in this film. Jungle JIm, Tamba the chimp, Leta, Cameron, Professor Dunham, the henchmen, the native men, the native wives and the sacred animals called okongos all run around to keep the plot going. It made me exhausted to watch. Take away the running footage and what is left is a story about a nefarious gang wanting to extract the glands from the okongo as it is a powerful narcotic. During the film Jungle Jim fights a leopard and a giant hairy spider and Tarzan-like gets to swing on vines.

Johnny Weissmuller is his usual heroic self as Jim. An average supporting cast support Johnny though Sherry Moreland as Leta is very easy on the eyes. The climax is set in the desert during a storm where the Congo shows its fury and it is reasonably exciting. A busy film and not dull if you like low budget jungle films, which I'm afraid I do.
