King Baggot loves Violet Horner, but he is a mild, ineffective guys, so she goes for annoying William Shay. Baggot is tired of this and decides to go on a course of exercise.
The time for this Alley-Oop attitude has passed, but viewed purely as a mechanical comedy, it's certainly well done. Although Baggot remains as paunchy as ever over his three-week course of exercise, it's a lot of fun to watch him and compare his attitude and those of his gym-mates; in his first appearance at the arena of sports, he's a complete dub. After the titles inform us it's his final lesson, matters have changed a lot.
