Okay little story about friendship between two animals where you wouldn't really expect it

That said, cats and dogs are not always enemies. They are friends very frequently. "Kitbull" is an American animated short film from 2019, very new release, and the first filmmaking effort by Rosanna Sullivan as the woman in charge, even if she has worked in smaller positions on some animated blockbusters already. This is a Pixar short film we have here. They released several short films recently and having seen 2 of them before this one I must say they were not particularly good, but quantity over quality. This one here improves the record a bit. It manages to deliver in terms of emotion, something Pixar did gloriously in their finest days, but recently not so much. So this is the heart and soul of the film, a story about a friendship between a cat and a dog with the cat being very sacred early on, but no surprise how tiny it is. Yes it may be a bit too much heart throb eventually with the wounded dog, the escape that almost goes wrong, the two lying next to each other, the new family that loves them both, but I'll still take it I guess. By the way this one runs for 8 minutes and add another minute of closing credits. Visually, I would still say it is not as good as it could have been, especially if we move away from the character animation. The landscapes do not look pretty and that they actually aren't (scrapyard) is not really an excuse in my opinion. But overall, the good outweighs the bad and the character animation for the lead duo also makes up for it. I especially liked the dog's looks. By the way nice to see these dogs getting some love because he is one of a kind that is considered dangerous and prone to biting people. So they can really use being depicted as kind, harmless and caring and for that I would like to give another thumbs-up because taking this special kind was probably not the easiest decision in making this film appealing to younger audiences too. I wonder if they made this choice to use this actually pretty fun play on words in the title. I think you should watch this one. My favorte animated short film from 2019 right now, but the year has only just started. Better than Bao for sure though.
