The Buccaneer is an old fashioned high powered historical drama. Set against the background of the War of 1812, this film stars Charlton Heston as General Andrew Jackson. The future president commands a motley group of soldiers and citizens as the mighty British army descends on the city of New Orleans. The doomed city seeks the help of the infamous pirate Jean Lafite, played by Yul Brynner wig and all. With little to offer him, Jackson plays on Lafitte's sense of duty to gain his aid....and his cannon. Great flick!
