Review of Bijoya

Bijoya (2019)
6/10
Faulty Storyline
13 January 2019
The movie is a shadow of it's previous version, Bisorjon. The only redeeming feature is Abir Chatterjee's better acting compared to the earlier one. Kaushik Ganguly and Jaya Ahsan play their roles well. The fault one lies in Ganesh Mondal being a severely disabled heart patient performing his daily chores with ease. He has to be on supplemental oxygen, but takes off the mask and behaves as a normal person. Second, he and his family smuggle into India without any valid permit (passport). Then gets admitted to a Corporate Hospital without a passport, leave alone a Medical Visa, which is the basic prerequisite for admission. And the timeline of the event is quite recent as the money changing hand is after demonitization. Being the only worthwhile director of Bengali movies, it's sad that he failed to get proper guidance from the research team giving him advice on this front.
