Preacher (2016–2019)
1/10
Series 3 is a let down, Series 1-2 were brilliant
12 January 2019
Series one took you on a whirlwind of dark humour and character discovery, from the curious character of Preacher himself to the despicable Odin Quincannon, series two continued this interesting evolution with amongst other things the emergence of Herr Starr and the "friendship" between Eugine and Adolf Hitler. Series 3 however seemed to drag on, and appeared to have abandoned dialogue in favour of all-out OTT fight scenes and a simplistic "tough talk" script with all the subtlety of Donald Trump in a ladies changing room. If this is close to the comics - then perhaps it needs some artistic touch-ups - and I don't mean more CGI. Indeed, some may have spotted the continuity gaffe when the Saint of Killers was being "whipped to the bone" S3E4 - you can see a reflection of his back on the glossy doors and it appears to be perfectly fine, then he turns around to reveal some poor makeup effects of it being deeply cut. That along with some of the lame CGI and limited dialogue makes this season seem rushed.
