9/10
Allu Arjun's one man show

Ajay(Siva Balaji),a spoilt brat and son of minister avatharam(Rajan P Dev), falls in love with geetha(Anuradha mehta) and threatens her to accept his love, otherwise, he will jump from the college building and commit suicide. Geetha who was in guilt because of an unknown guy jumping in a sea for her, decides weakly to accept ajay's love so that somebody else again doesn't lose his life for her. At that moment arrives Arya(Allu Arjun), as a new student in college and falls in love with geetha when she was proposing to ajay. Arya proposes to geetha infront of ajay, making the latter frustrated. Arya only wants geetha to feel his love. Ajay tries constantly to remove arya from his path but arya often outshines him with his sharp tongue and smartness. Rest of the film is whether geetha will realise the true love of arya or not. Being a keralite, I saw arya's malayalam dubbed version and I just liked it. But when, I saw the original telugu version, I fell in love with this film like anything. Story of the film might be straightforward but the script is just unpredictable, where each and every scene gives you a surprise. Sukumar in his directorial debut, itself proves to be a master filmmaker. He presents a cliche love story in a fresh way keeping all the commercial elements intact. Coming to performances, it was allu arjun show all the way. Despite being his second film, he carries the whole film on his shoulders. He's charming, energetic and stylish throughout. His dance and fights will make you in awe of him. Anu mehta was okay and did her part well. Siva balaji was also very good. The next highlight of the film is dsp's soundtrack. There are two romantic songs, two western fast songs and two telugu mass songs which are all brilliant whether you hear or see it on screen. His background score was an asset for the film. But, the film suffers from the biggest and only drawback of the film which is its some unrealistic and illogical scenes. There are many scenes which are unrealistic like 1.The ending where geetha turns into julia roberts in runaway bride (will ajay's father leave her alive after embarrassing them). 2. The notice board of college where anybody can stick any rubbish into it. What the hell was the principal doing? 3. How can men roam around casually in girls hostel including their bedroom? Isn't there a warden or what? 4. In arya's intro scene, a bunch of kids lift a well built adult like arya. How is that possible? Final verdict : Arya is the film which made allu arjun what he is today. Though his first film gangotri was a hit, allu was criticized for his looks and acting. But with his second film arya he proved all the critics wrong. Arya is allu arjun's show all over. His dance, fights and performance made him a youth icon. It was allu arjun's first film to be dubbed in malayalam and he became a youth icon there too. You will love arya for sure.
