Stargate SG-1: Secrets (1998)
Season 2, Episode 9

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER: This is the second straight episode with 1 of the 4 SG1 team members experiencing a huge "family crisis". The last was Teal'c. This is with Daniel. First off, you clearly see the acting abilities which differ between James Spader and Michael Shanks playing "Daniel Jackson". On the other hand, I am glad to see "Kasuf" (Erick Avari) from the original "Stargate" (1994) film. Back to the criticism: I find it so predictable when a "System Lord" is going to use his wrist shield device, but the writers of these episodes must assume the viewing audience members are either ignorant or too stupid to realize the SG1 team shoot him first instead of last; after he has activated his shield device. I have see all 214 episodes several times, so I am obviously a big fan. However, I cannot stand the writer's assumption of stupidity by the fans. I have seen them do this precise thing at least 2 dozen times, and the writers keep doing so. It is not authentic, and film audiences can smell inauthenticity in a heartbeat; just as is done at the end of this episode. It's ridiculous. There are other episodes which I really like; in fact, most of them. This one is bad. So it's "aw shucks, better luck next time SG-1".
