Besides being a scene-stealing supporting player, he had credits as a Broadway playwright, a screenwriter and directed four movies, three of them a series of sports shorts. Here, within the comic confines of this standard drama, we get to see not only great athlete Jim Thorpe (well past his glory days), but also Bill Spaulding and Dutch Hendrian, amidst a cast that includes Russel Gleason, Lucille Gleason as his mother and Eugene Pallette as his uncle. It's not a great short, but it's worth watching for a superb cast.
