Stupid Indians never heard of rigor mortis
17 September 2018
If I was an American Indian I would be truly offended by this Maverick story. It has Bret Maverick and two other soldiers defending a fort where the garrison has been massacred. It must have really been fragrant around there with all the dead lying in place.

The premise is that the soldiers and later a few more do come will survive only if they play on their superstitions. When one of them is seemingly shot by a dead soldier the Indians in panic retreat.

It really was Garner playing dead as part of the gag. But you can't tell me the Indians living life as they did never encountered rigor mortis as part of the death process.

The final confrontation with Garner and the chief is taken right from the MGM classic Ivanhoe with Robert Taylor and George Sanders. I'm surprised MGM didn't sue the brothers Warner.
