Well who says that a menacing villain is required to create conflict. Killgrave was quite horrifying and truly earns his name yet it is all about character development, and the connection between them (him) and us the viewers... Truth be told, Killgrave wasn't that too much of an antagonist. I didn't mind him ending up dead and also i didn't mind him being alive on the show. The reason i got attached to the infamous 'smile' sequence was because Jessica did what quite few super heroes do, which is homicide. She gave ol' Killgrave a smile of death before she snapped his neck After that moment we got the connection we needed to Jessica Jones.

As for the follow-up season... the threat didn't feel iminent due to lack of surprise. That was until Alisa showed up and stirred the coffee too well. What made her a force to be recogned with was her love for Jessica and granted... she's her mother so we already had a tiny relationship to her So after she was introduced in the second volume, we already knew what horrendous force would annihilate us. While it's over-exaggerated, the fear of losing control of one's own temper is frightnieng enough knowing it could drive loved ones away and give aloneness more space.

The finale would've been flawless if it hadn't been for the grand plot to be too crammed into one episode. It's not very convincing how fast both changed minds about each other when they been apart for 17 years. That should've left a too big hole in the heart for Jessica at least. She's always ice cold, and you could say: nothing can compare to motherly love... Jessica is a broken mess which couldn't fix the issue between she and her mother in such a short amount of time. But i admit seeing the two bond, melted my heart a bit. The relationship could've been developed more if the rushed Alisa's death in the haste it was when Trish hit bullseye. I'm glad Triish were the one because that would open conflicts that could play a major role in future seasons.

I guess what i'm trying to say here (in my awful writing) is that less physical evil acts and more mental ones or emotional ones could make for the greatest villains. As long as villains have their motives and we connect with them through their motive... We could emphetize with more antagonist and truly bond with them
