WARNING SPOILERS.. I guess. It's a documentary, I dunno.

"Forest Man" is a documentary made in 2013 directed by William Douglas McMaster. This documentary is about a man named Jadav Payeng who planted a forrest on the island of Majuli. This was not an easy task as you would guess, it took over 40 years to get the forrest really started, not to mention he had to do this by himself, with his family making breakfast and stuff. His hard work did not go to waste though as the forrest is now nearly 1400 acres of land wide. To put this in perspective, Majuli is 352 kilometers large, so the forrest takes up most of the island, I think. Jadav was eventually found by Arup Kumar Sarma, a wildlife photographer who was exploring the island and found him fishing. Jadav at first thought he was a poacher, trying to kill tigers and other animals, and attacked him, but after Arup explained himself, he was fine with him. Arup spread his story around India and they are now very good friends. The camera work on this documentary is of course gorgeous, panning over the land and around the city. Arup not only functions as a narrator but he also stars in the film.. As himself. Jadav cannot speak English so the scenes with him speaking are accompanied by subtitles. The music in this film is very slow and calm which fits the tone of the movie. The message of the film is "If this guy can do it, so can us!" which is a very good lesson to learn especially in this day and age. Overall, This is a very nicely done documentary with a good message to boot. I rate this movie 9 stars out of 10, the first 8 for the film and the extra one for the elephant.
