This is a piece of fan fiction that does an excellent job of linking the old series and new series covering the Time War without spoiling it with a lot of revelations about the Time War coming in the new series so that this episode makes sense continuity wise coming between The Movie/other 8th Doctor Fan Fiction stories and Rose but doesn't ruin not knowing that much about the Time War so that it still appears mysterious.
It provides a coherent explanation for why the Doctor in the new series is a lot different to the old series because he is struggling to remember who he was.
Many of the Time War elements you do see you can relate to new series episodes like the cracked dome being due to the Daleks crashing their ship earlier into Gallifrey.
To add to this, we see Davros being destroyed as well as Romana explaining the inconsistency in many Time War books with Romana being the president and then in the new series Rassilon being the president with the explanation being that the Timelords becoming evil happened much later in the war and as a result of the devastating attack by the Daleks which you see in this story.
Moreover, the story explains the context behind why tensions between the Daleks and Timelords were created due to many events of conflict between them in the classic series
The story is also split into 4 parts which I really like as there is a real lack of 8th Doctor cliffhangers due to the 8th Doctor only appearing in The TV Movie and other fan fiction which don't contain many cliffhangers.
